Kilauea Military Camp-Volcano, Hawaii
We have picked an exciting and interesting place for our next reunion. Kilauea Military Camp is located within the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. There is much to see and do here especially with recent eruptions and steam venting out of Halemaumau Crater. KMC is charming and a great place to have a reunion because of its isolation and amenities available to its guests.
Tentatively, we have decided on October 9, 10, and 11 as the reunion dates. This would be the weekend preceding the Discoverer's Day weekend. For those who might want to tour other parts of the Big Island, this would make your trip here worthwhile (especially with costly travel expenses.) This is a tentative itinerary:
Friday, October 11 - Check-in; Heavy pupus and drinks/cocktails
Saturday, October 10 - Golfing at Volcano Country Club for those interested; tours for those who haven't been here before; Hilo Farmer's Market. Dinner to be catered.
Sunday, October 11 - Check out by 11:00 am
Please click on the Kilauea Military Camp (KMC) website www.kmc-volcano.com/rates.asp to get an idea of the rates for rooms. Some may want to split the cost of the 2 or 3 bedroom apartments. We will give you more information next year about making reservations there. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE RESERVATIONS YET.
